The Bled Film Festival was established in order to celebrate the power of film, which we feel is the perfect medium with which to address the rational and emotional ways that human beings see the world around them. In addition to drawing public attention to some extraordinary films, we also seek to raise general awareness of water crises and the other environmental issues which jeopardize life on our planet. The festival communicates openly, it exceeds its film platform and it spreads into an attractive tourist event, with a strong socially engaged focus – the protection of water as an important source of life. With fresh ideas, strong partners, a huge network, and an attractive location, BFF will grow organically. While we begin as a regional festival, we will soon grow into a global player in the world of film festivals. The festival separates and distinguishes itself from others with a focus on a better and more balanced world, joining ecology and glamour at a high level and in an exquisite location. It is the first such international film festival in Slovenia and its broader region. But the festival does not limit itself only to the festival days in June. We build the festival with the help of our partners as a continuing platform, a web of various activities, round tables, projects for raising awareness of the importance of water protection, and necessary changes to our irrationally destructive socio-economic system.
