FAMILY ESTATE A journey, generations long Our vineyards have been in the domain of Simčič family for many generations since the 19th century. Marjan and the whole family represent the fifth generation, which deals with viticulture and other related activities. Marjan’s story, which has been told through his wines over the past 20 years, was ready to be shared with the World in 2008, with a new line of top quality wines: '​'Opoka'​'​ as the ultimate example of his devotion to achieving perfection. PROUD OF OUR TERROIR Simcic winery is situated in a small village in the very heart of Brda, which is the Slovenian side of the wider area of the wine-growing region Brda / Collio. These unique characteristics of Goriska brda region together with specific marl soil, poor in organic structure, but very rich in mineral salts (known as Opoka), are the grounds for a millennia-long viticulture tradition in this particular region. Wines from this area are exceptionally elegant and mineral. WINEMAKING PHILOSOPHY We believe in the most traditional and ancestral vinification methods, enriched by experience and modern knowledge. Our wines are produced from grapes that are cultivated only in our own vineyards, situated both on the Slovenian and Italian sides. The work in the vineyard is done exclusively by hand, which results in increased quality of the wines. Our philosophy is to cultivate our vines using only natural methods, without any chemical fertilizers or insecticides. WINES Awarded by renowned wine reviewers from all over the world.
