IRI UL (Institute for Innovation and Development of University of Ljubljana - Inovacijsko-razvojni inštitut Univerze v Ljubljani) is a non-profit research and development organisation established in 2007 by the University of Ljubljana and ten leading Slovenian companies with the aim of supporting integration, dissemination, and use of knowledge, as well as strengthening the innovation triangle (research-education-innovation), primarily by transferring research results into practice. IRI UL has a dual role within its activities and acts as an intermediary (identifying and commercialising expert knowledge of the University of Ljubljana) and as an organiser (preparing and managing interdisciplinary projects). AS AN INTERMEDIARY, IRI UL RUNS: - a network of researchers and laboratories of the University of Ljubljana (database management, building a network of researchers, commercial applications of the database and network); - a project centre (monitoring calls and tenders, coordinating and preparing applications) - communication and education activities. AS AN ORGANISER, IRI UL IMPLEMENTS THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: - energy lab (energy efficiency network, energy renovation of educational public buildings, energy manager of the University of Ljubljana) - real-life learning lab (interdisciplinary teams of students working on industry-identified and society-relevant challenges) - international and national projects (Horizon 2020, Erasmus+, Interreg etc.).
